A CICC delegation received in audience by the Minister of Agriculture of Republic of Guinea

Conakry, Guinea – As part of the strengthening of strategic partnerships between the Consultative International Cashew Council (CICC) and its Member States, a delegation of the organization, led by its Executive Secretary, Mr. André Mahoutin Tandjiekpon, was received in audience by Mrs. Aminata KABA, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Guinea.

This high-level meeting is a key step in the consolidation of bilateral cooperation for the sustainable and competitive development of the cashew sector in Guinea, a member country of the CICC since 2017.

This contact made it possible to follow up on the resolutions of the last session of the Council of Ministers, which was held in Conakry, and to plan the preparations for the next ordinary session scheduled for Abidjan.

During the discussions, Mr. André Mahoutin Tandjiekpon highlighted the range of opportunities and tools that the CICC makes available to its twelve Member States to boost the value chain, including:

• Support for research and innovation to increase the productivity of plantations;
• Strengthening agricultural advisory services;
• The active promotion of local processing of raw nuts to maximize added value;
• Capacity development of public and private actors in the sector.

Welcoming the CICC’s approach, the Minister insisted on the importance of rigorous monitoring of the actions carried out on the ground through regular impact reports. She also recalled the need to implement the recommendations of previous sessions to ensure tangible benefits for local actors.

Mrs. Aminata KABA stressed that the development of high-potential sectors, such as cashew, is in line with the vision of the Simandou 2040 Programme. This flagship program of the Guinean government establishes the structural transformation of the economy, agricultural industrialization and food sovereignty as national priorities.

To this end, the Ministry reaffirmed its willingness to rely on the technical expertise of the CICC to make the cashew sector a real lever for inclusive growth, job creation for youth and improvement of Guinean producers’ incomes.

This fruitful hearing reaffirms the shared commitment of the Ministry of Agriculture of Guinea and the CICC to build a strong, modern and resilient cashew economy. By joining forces, the two institutions are laying the groundwork for sustainable growth, in perfect coherence with the economic development ambitions of the sub-region.
