TANZANIA VISITS THE CONSULTATIVE INTERNATIONAL CASHEW COUNCIL (CICC)
As part of the strengthening of regional synergies, the Consultative International Cashew Council (CICC) received, on Tuesday, June 02, 2026 at its headquarters, a large Tanzanian delegation from the cashew sector for a courtesy visit with strong strategic stakes. Driven by the common desire to sustainably structure the global market, this meeting lays the foundations for Tanzania’s early integration into the institution.
A delegation at the heart of the exchanges
The Tanzanian delegation, composed of six representatives, was led by a major figure in the East African cashew sector: Brigadier General Aloyce Mwanjile, Chairman of of the Cashew Board of Tanzania. This delegation was introduced by Mr. Douhou Oula Stephane, representing the Cotton, Cashew and Shea Council (CCAK), testifying to the fluidity of relations and coordination between national and international bodies.
The Executive Secretary of the CICC, Mr. André Mahoutin Tandjiékpon, warmly welcomed the presence of his hosts, stressing the clear privilege for the institution to host the representation of the second largest cashew producing country in Africa.
CICC, a growth opportunity for Tanzania’s cashew industry
The discussions began with an institutional presentation of the CICC, highlighting its support services to Member States and the actions already undertaken to bring the institution closer to Tanzania. In view of the opportunities presented, the Tanzanian delegation reaffirmed the central and essential role of the CICC for nations engaged in the development and promotion of cashew. Tanzania’s message is clear: the future of the sector depends on a synergy of action between producing countries. “If Tanzania wants to develop its sector, it will need to be able to benefit from the experiences of countries while being in a community space such as the CICC” said Brig. Gen. Aloyce Mwanjile, Chaiman of the Cashew Board of Tanzania.
A major alliance for global cashew leadership
Tanzania’s possible accession goes beyond a simple geographical extension. It represents a geopolitical and economic turning point for the sector. The Executive Secretary of the CICC firmly insisted on the diplomatic and productive weight that Tanzania represents on the African chessboard. Integrating this East African country into the CICC would mark a giant step towards achieving the institution’s vision which is to bring together at least 80% of the world’s cashew production in same organization by 2027.
By combining the strike force of West African leaders with the expertise of East Africa, the CICC consolidates its position as a global interlocutor, capable of sustainably influencing prices, local processing and the sustainability of the cashew sector. This courtesy visit could well be the prelude to a historic and desirable accession to the CICC in 2026.
