Launch of the Consultative International Cashew Council’s Data Access Pool !
Grand-Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire – December 3-5, 2025
This Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in Grand-Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire, the Consultative International Cashew Council (CICC) marked a decisive step by launching the workshop to establish an international data pool comprised of the statistical institutions of its twelve member countries.
This key event, held over three days, aims to establish the CICC as a true international cashew observatory, guaranteeing access to reliable, harmonized, and comparable data for the sustainable development of the sector.
The overall objective of this Pool is to establish an operational and sustainable international framework for the production, management, and use of statistical data on cashew nuts (production, processing, marketing, consumption, prices, employment, etc.) in member countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo).
During these three days of discussions, more than 30 experts from various CICC member countries, MOVE/GIZ, WEECAP, and ECOWAS contributed to the work on defining priority key indicators for the sector, harmonizing data collection methods and digital tools to ensure data consistency and traceability, and aligning with international standards.
It was with this in mind that the Executive Secretary of the CICC, Mr. André Mahoutin Tandjiékpon, urged all participants to engage in frank, constructive, and committed discussions to align their efforts with concrete actions aimed at meeting the challenge of accessing quality data and information for the effectiveness of public and private interventions in the cashew sector of the member countries.
At the end of this workshop, these discussions led to the expected results: a consensus list of priority statistical indicators adopted by all member countries, validated harmonized methods for data collection and management, the establishment of a Coordination Committee, and a three-year action plan.
