Admission

The admission of new full members is preceded by a request addressed to the President of the Council of Ministers through the Executive Secretariat, which submits it for evaluation at the next plenary session of the Council of Ministers. The candidacy of a State as a full member will be accepted and approved by a two-thirds (2/3) majority of the CICC member countries.

The admission decisions of the Council of Ministers specify that the new member is henceforth subject to the same obligations and enjoys the same rights as other members. Admission decisions are communicated by a letter signed by the Executive Secretary, notifying the candidates, who will then proceed to sign the convention and ratify it, if applicable, within twelve (12) months of the notification. The candidacy of an organization as an observer member will also be accepted and approved by a two-thirds (2/3) majority of the CICC member countries. The evaluation of applications considers the candidate’s interest in the cashew sector, their commitment to fulfilling the obligations of membership, the provision of information related to the cashew sector, and the regular and complete payment of required contributions.

Withdrawal

Any member is free to withdraw from the CICC through a simple written notification addressed to the President of the Council of Ministers. This withdrawal takes effect three (3) months after notification. The Council of Ministers will acknowledge the withdrawal during its next session, after analyzing the financial situation of the withdrawing member with the CICC, as provided by the Executive Secretariat.

Suspension

If a member delays payment of their contributions for three (3) years, the Executive Secretary will inform the concerned member that, unless payment is received within six months of the notification date, documents and other services will no longer be provided to them after the expiration of this six-month period. If payment is still not received after another six-month period, all rights of the member will be suspended.

Reintegration

A member who has relinquished their membership or whose membership has been suspended cannot be readmitted as a member until they have paid at least 50% of their debt to the CICC. Their membership will only be maintained if no further arrears accumulate, equaling the equivalent of three years of contributions.
