CALL FOR ABSTRACTS/PAPERS
Date: From Tuesday, September 23 to Thursday, September 25, 2025

Background and justification
From 2000 to 2018, the cashew raw nuts global trade more than doubled, and Africa has become the world’s leading producer (>60%). Worldwide, the cashew nut market is experiencing annual growth of 7 to 10%, driven by increasing consumer demand and the recognized nutritional benefits of the nut. Despite its social and economic importance, in most of the main nut-producing countries, research in the cashew value chain, the main driver for the sustainability of this sector faces several major challenges. The key issues include sustainable production and climate smart practices in both processing and trade.
Meetings between specialists from the cashew value chain represent a strategically valuable activity for the sector. Such meetings enable the sharing of achievements, unresolved issues, and challenges, while also fostering collective reflection on priority topics. In this regard, with support from its administrative, technical, and financial partners, the Consultative International Cashew Council (CICC) has initiated the organization of an annual International Cashew Research Conference (ICRC) in a member country. The 2025 conference will be organised in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from September 23 to 25, 2025.
