Call for the recruitment of a P3 grade Statistician/Planner for the Consultative International Cashew Council (CICC)
- Background
The Consultative International Cashew Council (CICC) is an intergovernmental organization that promotes cashew value chains through policy coordination and cooperation among member states. The organization currently has twelve member states: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo.
In order to create the conditions for the success of this institution, it is planned, for 2025, to recruit a Statistician Planning Officer in the P3 category of the CICC to strengthen the capacities of its Executive Secretariat in the production and management of data relating to the cashew sector in its member and non-member countries.
- Objective
The Statistical Planning Officer is recruited to ensure the collection, analysis and compilation of statistical data on behalf of the CICC.
- Main activities, tasks & responsibilities
The Statistical Planning Officer carries out the objectives and tasks within his/her competence. Specifically, the Statistical Planning Officer will be responsible for:
Under the title of the constitution and management of statistical data:
- Ensure the collection, analysis and publication of global and country-specific statistical data on cashew in terms of production, processing, consumption, trade and stocks of raw nuts;
- Establish, manage and maintain a statistical database on member countries and worldwide to support the CICC’s economic and sectoral studies in the areas of production, processing and marketing (quantity produced, prices, financial flows, trade statistics) and statistics relating to CICC operations;
- Assist in the design and deployment of computer programs to optimize procedures for collecting and disseminating information from the Department of Economic Studies and Statistics ;
- Oversee and contribute to the development of web publishing tools and other relevant software for the collection, storage and dissemination of statistical data;
- Develop and distribute questionnaires for the collection of statistical information for the publication of CICC information documents on the cashew industry;
- Check the accuracy and consistency of CICC statistics with other sources of information (libraries, companies, sector associations, specialized institutions, etc.) and interpret any discrepancies and make adjustments if necessary;
- Perform data entry and preparation of copy-ready tables for inclusion in official CICC reports and documents;
- Collect and analyze all documentary resources necessary for data collection in order to produce economic and commercial studies as well as reports on the cashew industry which will be used by the CICC;
- Provide support for the estimation and analysis of macroeconomic aggregates of the cashew sector in CICC member countries, identify indicators, develop models and apply statistical methods such as trend analysis, forecasting methods to estimate aggregates;
- Keep informed of trends and developments in the institution’s sector of activity to anticipate future needs and adjust plans accordingly;
- Contribute to the production of data on the cashew sector in Africa and the rest of the world by collecting data from countries and generating economic forecasts for the countries.
Under planning responsibilities and other activities:
- Develop and present short- and long-term plans for the institution, taking into account available resources, sector trends and institutional objectives;
- Prepare weekly, monthly, bi-monthly and annual reports on the global cashew market;
- Take, as a member, an active part in the discussions and work carried out by the CICC Technical Commissions;
- Provide advice to other departments, field experts, etc. in the planning, operation and evaluation of statistical programs and projects;
- Analyze the results of projects and strategies implemented, and make recommendations for future improvements;
- Assist the Executive Secretary in handling all equations relating to statistical information and economic studies on cashew and carry out, at his request, all missions, studies and discussions relating to this function.
- Candidate profile
- Be a national of one of the twelve member countries of the CICC;
- Have a Master’s degree or Engendering in Statistics, Planning, Mathematics, Computer Science or equivalent;
- Have at least 7 years of professional experience in similar positions;
- Be bilingual with practice and listening in at least two of the three CICC languages: French, English and Portuguese;
- Proven experience in statistics and planning in the agricultural or agro-industrial sector;
- Experience in data management in an international organization or regional project ;
- Experience in cashew market statistics and analysis is an asset.

- Workplace
The position is based at the CICC headquarters in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire).
- Contract duration
The duration of the contract is twenty-four (24) months with a trial period of three (03) months. The trial period is renewable at most once.
- Selection method
The overriding consideration in the recruitment of CICC staff is based on the need to ensure the institution has the services of persons possessing the highest standards of efficiency, competence and integrity. Recruitment is made without distinction based on race, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, political affiliation or social status. The process is governed by the CICC Staff Regulations and in accordance with Resolution VIII of the 3rd Council of the institution relating to the recruitment of key personnel of the Executive Secretariat.
Candidates will be selected based on their qualifications and relevant experience. Recruitment will be carried out in three (03) phases:
- A pre-selection phase by a specialist firm with a view to establishing a shortlist of the most qualified candidates based on the analysis of the application presented;
- An interview phase of pre-selected candidates by a specialized firm assisted by experts appointed by the CICC. This phase will establish the list of three (03) best profiles suited to the position to be submitted to the Executive Secretary of the CICC;
- A phase of negotiation and signing of the contract with the definitively selected candidate.
